Privacy
Short version: we collect almost nothing ourselves, but the ads that fund the site use cookies. Here's exactly what happens and how to control it.
How we measure traffic
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first measurement tool that uses no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no cross-site tracking. We see aggregate counts — which pages were read, roughly where visitors came from — and nothing that identifies you as an individual.
Advertising and cookies
The site is free because advertising pays for it. Display ads are served through Google AdSense. To serve and measure those ads — and, where allowed, to make them more relevant — Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies. That data is collected and handled by Google as a third party, under Google's policies, not by us. We don't receive your browsing history from it.
Direct ads that companies book with us are different: they're static placements that carry no tracking from us.
Your choices
If you're in the EU, UK, or another region that requires it, we ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set, and you can decline — you'll still see ads, just non-personalised ones. Wherever you are, you can manage or turn off personalised ads any time at Google Ad Settings, and your browser's settings let you block or clear cookies for this site.
What we hold about you
There are no accounts, no forms, and no newsletter at present, so we keep no profile of you. If you email us, we keep that correspondence and use it only to reply. If you'd like us to delete an email exchange, or you have a question about your data, write to hello@smashthatjob.com.
Changes
If we add or change anything that affects your data — a different ad network, an analytics change, a newsletter — we'll update this page to say what changed, and we date it below so you can tell.
